In your digital portfolio go to your thinking and learning page. Then go to the My Thinking page.

On this page choose your favourite subject and most challenging subject.

Write two things that make your favourite subject the best and give explanations.

Write two things about why the other subject is your most challenging and why.

Once you have uploaded your digital portfolio website it’s time we started filling it.

Read the information and then do the learning style inventory.

In your blog do the following

1. What did you find out about yourself?
2. Place a screen shot of the table into your blog.

You will need to create a page in your portfolio which demonstrates how you learn?
You can use images, words, shapes and animation to show how you think you learn best.

This will need to go into the section “How I Learn”.

Once finished you will need to upload the changes to your digital portfolio website.

You must give at least three reasons for why you do think that one person could change the world and three reasons for why you don’t. And then decide for yourself and give your own opinion.

Below you will find the rubric and the expected list of blog entries that you will be assessed on at the completion of this subject. It is your responsibility to ensure that all your entries are completed and done to the best of your ablility.

This week we are going to continue to discuss the way the internet is changing.

I want us to consider how it might be changing the way people can or can’t make a difference to the world just by having an opinion and letting people know about it.

Your task today is to work in groups of three and you will be comparing and contrasting two pieces of media.

The first one are three videos from YouTube called all about a phenomonen called free hugs and is one of the most popular videos being viewed on Youtube at the moment.

The second is the song “I wish I was a Punkrocker” (with flowers in my hair) I have purchased this song legally from ITunes so we can use it in our class.

Firstly in your groups of three you will use a Venn diagram to compare the two types of media and what they are trying to achieve. I want to know how do they get their message across?
You will then decide how this helps you answer the question Can one person make a difference to the world?

After you have discussed this with your group, finally you will be asked to write an individual post on your blog and discuss the question. How can one person make a difference to the world?

As I was away last week, firstly I want to find out what you have been doing and then we are going to continue with your work on your blogs.

I know that you haven’t been working in them because as you know I can see each blog linked from our home page and I can see that your last entries were about the Kahootz expression that you all created.

Your task this week is to complete the internet online quiz in the post dated October 4th Thinking about the internet and then to comment on the three most important considerations about using the internet.

Don’t forget that you are to write it into your MSword blogging document first and then copy and paste it into your blog.

Just a gentle reminder that your blog will be assessed at the end of the year and will go towards your final mark so make sure that you have all entries up to date.

Last lesson you had a chance to think about what the internet can and can’t tell us about information.

You were asked to think about a big question and to decide what you consider what was the most important thing about the internet.

You were asked to save your responses to a word document so that we could return to them later.

I think this is a very good practice to do so today we are going to create a folder within our IT folder that we will call myblog. In that folder you will create a word document that you will call blogging.

It will look something like this anne-blogging.doc

On this word page you will begin to blog from now on. Once you have finished what you want to say you can run a spell checker over it and then you can copy and paste those words into your real blog.

So is a simple and easy way to keep a copy of all your blogs just in case they get deleted.

The next time you add another blog you will open the same document, put in the date and then write your next blogging post.

For you next blog entry I want you to now think about three things that you think are important about using the internet.

We will do a bit of a brainstorm about it as a class and then you will write your own ideas into your word document and then copy and paste them into your blog.

Hello all and welcome back to a new term. We are going to revisit our blogs and also participate in an online quest to ask ourselves a Big Question. What Can we Learn from the Internet? Tom March is a man who has been working with teachers and students all over the world. He particularly wants us to think about how we can use the internet to help us learn. Your task is to go to this weblink What can we learn from the internet? and complete the questions. You will copy and paste each question that you choose to answer. Then type in under the question your response. then at the completion of your study you will answer the Big Question: Based on all you learned from the questions and links above, what do you think is the most important thing about the Internet?

As we are beginning the last week of term, this is an opportunity for you to think about how the term has gone and what you have learnt this year.

We have mainly worked on learning more about Powerpoint and image editing through PaintShop Pro. We have also learnt about blogging and have each set up our own blogs. We have also been working on creating a Kahootz expression that will illustrate aspects of ourselves to add to our portfolio.

As this is Monday, you have this period and  our next IT period to finish off your Kahootz and make it ready for your portfolio.

You will also have time to go to your blog and add some reflections about the last term.

According to wikipedia a wiki is a type of website that allows users to easily add, remove, or otherwise edit and change some available content, sometimes without the need for registration.

This will be a site where we can record information and ideas around the things we are learning at Wedderburn College.
